Here is an example of a bad map of Hanoi, Vietnam. I do not speak the language used on the map, but I can tell that no streets are labeled and the center of the town is cluttered with overlapping routes. It does not convey information very well and it does not have a legend.
Here is an example of a good map of downtown Madison, Wisconsin. It is a tourist map that provides good information in an organized manner. Some good information on this map is one way streets, a legend, and parking areas.
